Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, whether you celebrate with your significant other, your friends, your family or your dog. Many of us spend this holiday either out on the town or curled up on our couch watching Netflix. Although the typical dinner and movie (or quiet night in) is nice, why not try something new for a change?
The world is our oyster, and since many of us spend a decent amount of time indoors sitting at our desk for hours a day, we should make it a priority to explore new opportunities when we have the chance. I’ve come up with a few fun active date ideas to inspire you to get outdoors, take care of your body and spend some quality time with those you care about.
Yoga: Partner yoga is a peaceful and interactive way to spend quality time with your partner. It allows you to work together in unlikely positions which can spark intimacy. If partner yoga is not an option, regular yoga will do just fine. Trying out new moves on the mat can help connect the mind, body and spirit and allows you to be present.
Tip: Diffuse essential oils to set the mood. We carry an assortment of oils, ranging from floral, woodsy, musky, sweet and spicy. Our oils are available in store or online.
Attend a new park, go hiking or rock climb: Spending time in nature helps boost creativity, improves mental health, benefits the immune system and lowers stress. No matter what you do, nature is an ideal place for physical activity. Try a new destination; you’ll be able to work as a team to navigate your way through. It’ll be more adventurous that way!
Tip: Bring a hammock for some down time with the trees.
Go for a dip in the ocean/walk along the beach: Many of us are deficient in vitamin D, and what better way to get your daily intake of sun than at the beach? Vitamin D maintains bone and teeth health, supports our immune system and plays a role in our cardiovascular system. Take a stroll along the sand, collect seashells and take a dip in the ocean if the water is warm enough. Swimming can hydrate your skin, improve circulation and provide a full body workout.
Tip: Pack food, drinks and a blanket for a picnic on the beach. For a more romantic vibe, head to the beach around sunset. If you aren’t sure what kind of snacks to bring, try one of our nut mixes with maca chocolate for a protein and antioxidant boost.
